USCIS Further Extends Temporary Office Closure Until June 4
/U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced that it has extended temporary office closures and suspension of in-person services until June 4, 2020.
USCIS initially announced temporary office closures due to COVID-19 on March 18, 2020, and the office closures were later extended through May 3, 2020.
The suspension of in-person services at USCIS offices includes interviews, naturalization ceremonies and biometric collection appointments. However, USCIS will continue to provide emergency services during this time. Individuals requiring emergency services can contact the USCIS Contact Center.
USCIS field office will send notices to applicants and petitioners with scheduled appointments impacted by the temporary public closure. USCIS will also send notices to naturalization applicants scheduled for naturalization ceremonies. Once normal operations resume, USCIS will contacts all applicants to reschedule their appointments.
USCIS will also automatically reschedule application support center appointments, including biometrics appointments, due to the temporary office closure. Impacted applicants will receive a new appointment letter in the mail. Individuals who had InfoPass or other appointments at a USCIS field office must reschedule through the USCIS Contact Center once field offices are open to the public again.
USCIS Service Centers, where the majority of immigration benefit applications and petitions are adjudicated, continue to be fully operational and are not impacted by this announcement.
